Yeah, she's black. So what's the fuss all about?

In the Hunger Games Katniss becomes allies with Rue who is discribed as a girl with brown eyes and black hair. And the movie posters have just been realised and such and everyone seems so shocked that the actress is African-American and said things like 'I didn't picture her like that'. And Rue is also said to remind Katniss of her sister Prim. And everyone said, 'Oh, she isn't blond' I'm like Rue wasn't described EVER to look like Prim, she is just small like Prim is and is about Prim's age.
And I didn't picture Rue as African-American, but I also didn't picture her to have brown eyes (my brain refuses), despite it being metioned multiple times. But when I saw the trailer I was thinking 'Where's Rue? Where's Rue?' and when I saw a small girl that was African-American, I was like 'oh, that must be Rue'
and the author said that Thresh (from Rue's district) and Rue were very clear in her mind to be african-american. And they way she is described in the book, she very well could've been black. And another character Cinna is also African-American, I thought he suited the role of Cinna so well, he might as well change his name to Cinna and claim to be from the Capitol for the rest of his life, I only saw his face for five seconds in the trailer. I think they did very well with the casting, and if their hair colour was different, something they would dye it.
Although I am quite disappointed with Effie's hair (hopefully it gets crazier through out the film or something).

And I don't know if I have metioned it, but I hate talking about casting, or reading magazines that talk about casting or watching the behind the scenes or repeatedly watching the trailer because it ruins the whole idea of the character being real, they are just 2D instead of coming to life in a movie or book.
But I thought I'd talk about this, cause I mean everyone made such a big deal, IT'S JUST HER MOTHER-FREAKING SKIN COLOUR..

I nearly fainted at the hairdressers yesterday...

So, I was at the hairdressers yesterday, and the hairdresser had just given my hair a wash, and was combing it out and trimming it and stuff. But she needed me to stand up because my hair is quite long and the back of the chair was blocking it and she was doing the back of my hair so I had to like crane my neck and my back started to hurt, but I tried to ignore it, and then I started seeing coloured dots and I was like stabbing myself with my finger nails trying to get my brain to wake up or make the dizziness go away or whatever, and then I started to sway, and my hairdresser asked me if I was alright and took me outside to the courtyard that is like behind their salon and gave me a drink of water and I was trying to think of what could have caused it, I had Cheerios cereal with milk and juice that morning for breakfast a slice of raw ham and some two minute noodles. So I knew it couldn't be something I ate. And I had been pacing the street window shopping because I showed up for my appointment alittle early. So eventually my mind was back on track again and I went inside and the hairdresser just made me sit down for the rest of what she was going to do standing up. So I went home and when I got home I was all up on facebook like 'Nearly fainted at the Hairdressers today'. And I have never fainted or nearly fainted even up until yesterday so, it was quite a new experience for me. And no one  cared.
But when my mum got home she cared, and she thought it was like the bleach and other fumes that might've been around  me, and I said I didn't know what it was, but everything around me at the time of nearly fainting smelt nice.
So, ya know. New experiences.
Might as well get me a sparkly vampire boyfriend, a werewolf and call me Bella Swan.

So, after the hairdresser I went back and stuff then I started to read to my brother but my headache which was coming and going started to get really painful so I stopped (much to my brother's disappointment (not really)) and took some panadol read a bit and went to sleep.

Oooohhh Granddad!

Good ol' Granddad!

BTW my granddad read my LAST blog post and assured me still plays tennis on Fridays and Sundays.
The only reason I was unsure was because last time I was SURE he mentioned going to tennis was when I was 11.

Oooohhh Grandma!

So, today, while mum's at work she  calls me to check on how my brother and I doing at home, and she asks me if I got her e-mail, that she forwarded from my Grandma. And I was like, no, why? (I'm really bad at checking my e-mail) and she said that it was from grandma talking about my blog post from yesterday, about my writing goal, and she said that she will never tell me 'to write what you know'. Here is the full e-mail copy and pasted for you:
I’d never ever tell Alice Peeta ‘write about what you know.’ It’s a good starting point for reluctant writers or people who lack self-confidence but a fluent and imaginative writer like her would find it very restrictive. Just go for it, A P, and let your fingers fly over the keyboard.

And if your wondering why she called me Alice Peeta, Peeta is my current middle name on Facebook, because of the Hunger Games. See, whenever I change my middle name on Facebook my Grandparents call me by my first name and my facebook middle name. And when my Graddad asked why I not call myself by the Heroine's name (Katniss), I said 'Because I would date Peeta if he was a real person.'
So, they have also called me by the name of 'Alice Potter'.

So, just letting you know Grandma, I wasn't say that YOU were going to say 'write what you know' just people who read my stories in general, that is why I am so private about my writing.
Something tells me that just made no sense, and only slightly helped me get my point across.

So, just letting you guys know that I have pretty awesome grandparents, with a great sense of humour.
Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDDAD!!!!!!!!!!!
He's turning 90 today. And he still plays golf and I'm pretty sure he still plays tennis when he gets the chance.
BTW I consider that picture misleading, considering I write all my stories on my laptop. But my Grandma wrote by hand.

New Years Resolutions

So, first of all Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.
So, everyone I watch on YouTube is asking about New Years Resolutions (can we just call them NYR? Cause I am typing with one hand because I am doing my nails at the moment...), and also my cousins were kind of curious about my NYRs.
But I hadn't really given much thought to them, but I decided I wanted to be more creative with them.
Because over half the world has announced like every other New Year they want to lose weight, or keep their weight at the level it is now. Or to jog everyday or whatever. And I am occasionally an Optimist but mostly a Pessimist, and I am not afraid to be honest and say that about only a quarter of you will succeed and then some might gain unhealthy eating disorders.
So I decided I will not make a goal weight, because it always sets you up for failure, but when you lose weight without having any sort of goal at all, it makes you happy, because you feel like you didn't even half to try for that weight. And so I am not going to make any diet or exercise goals, I just go by my rules (not goals, RULES (I've had these rules ever since I started receiving my own recurring pocket money when I was 11 and it was the first time I went to a school that had food you can buy food without planning beforehand you just have to have money)).
Rule #1) No change for a dollar chocolate bar (I always have notes and not change), then no chocolate bar.
Rule #2) Are you getting your money worth? Is that tiny strawberry tart worth a dollar fifty? I think not. Bye-bye tiny strawberry tart!
Rule #3) Always be hesitant.
My friends think of me as whimp for always saying "Pass", but who has more money at then end of the day? MOI.
Apart from I movie theatres, I never been anywhere else apart from Reading Cinemas that you can get THIS much Pepsi:
Okay, I was kidding, but you get my drift.

So finally what you ALLLL HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY NEW YEARS RESOLUUUUTTTTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(To be said out loud like at some WWE boxing/wrestling/whatever match).

#1) Be Nicer.
If you ever meet me, or already know me, you will know I can be pretty nice.
But when I get too close to you I become a little TOO honest (eg. You shouldn't have straightened your hair, it's totally fried). And some people are just really annoying but they don't know they're annoying it's just the way they are and it gets me really cranky (some people I know have done ALL of my pet peeves whether know it or not). And so when I get cranky can be upsetting for the person making me cranky because it is not really their fault because it is just something they do and occasionally can't help. So I need to work on my niceness.
#2) More Grace
I literally rolled my eyes as I wrote the word Grace, but I need to work on it, because I swear like a sailor.
And I'm a girl. And girls aren't meant to swear like sailors. And also I sit like a slob (slouchy, legs slightly spread, I mean come on! I look like a dude, oh yeah, stop saying dude is part of this grace thing as well).
And having a good posture means you don't look as fat as you would as a slouchy slob. And I guess being nice is part of grace.
#3) More Writing and More Sharing
I not only write this blog but I also write stories, and none of the stories so far have been completed (apart from a two page one I wrote when I was eight, but I don't think that really counts...) And my grandma is a write as well and she thinks I'm really good (and some others say so as well, but I don't want to brag, grace, grace). And my grandma in particular wants to see more of it, and I hate to say, but I am actually really private about my writing with adults because I don't like/fear getting the criticism of 'write what you know' and 'that isn't possible', so I tend not share, which of course drives my grandma mad. So I thought I should write more and share it with my grandmother more.
And there is that tiny extra goal to write on here more.
#4) Better at Cheerleading.
Practise, Go Hard, whatever.
#5) Take care of my skin
So, I used to be/still am pretty bad at looking after my skin.
So I used to always get sun burnt, but now I taken care of that.
Butttt I don't wash my face as much as I should and I don't exfoliate my skin, which is basically getting rid of dead skin cells. And so I know I should get more into the habit of washing my face, which is usually difficult on weekdays because we only have one bathroom in a cottage like house. And one sink and one mirror in that bathroom. And my mum takes a shower every morning and also gets changed in there so it is pretty crammed for time slots to wash my face and stuff. Especially since I like to have breakfast and sleep in and whatever. So PRETTY crammed. But at night the bathroom is pretty NOT crammed, so I will have to go ONCE a day face washing despite what the ads tell me to do TWICE a day.
And exfoliating is something I only hear about from beauty gurus on the internet and I don't come across stores that often that sell exfoliating products I can afford, and I know there is one LUSH in town, but I feel like maybe I do the whole exfoliating process wrong or I do it inconstantly. So next time I go to town with friends and I have money for the exfoliation products, I'll take a look around and see what I can find.
#6) Take care of my hair
So my hair is looking pretty bad at the moment (the amount of split ends are pissing me off).
So I need a trim. And I also need to invest in some shampoo that fixes hair which also apparently you can get from LUSH. I know it's called Rehab (heard about it via Beauty Guru). So I want my hair to have more comments on it, other than 'It's so long' (which it is), but I want things like 'OhMiGwosh it is so swoft and bweautiful!'
Also I need to invest in some hair protectant because I got a straightener for Christmas, but I refuse to use it until I know that my hair isn't going to be damaged from it. And some other kind of hair protectant you use before drying your hair with a blow dryer.
#7) Use my Student Diary
It got damaged from some pouring water on my bad last year, so when I get my 2012 one, I want to take EXTRA care of it and ACTUALLY use it.
#8) Socialise
I need to get in contact with my friends, I miss THEMMMMMM.
And I am only 'friends' with one guy. Who I haven't seen in over a year. So he was more like a acquaintance. And everyone of my friends are friends with MULTIPLE boys and make fun of ME for not having boy friends (see that space? Yeah? Means boy that is a friend. Boyfriend means in a committed relationship with this boy). And yet they refuse to let me meet them on some group outing. Bitches.
#9) Own More Awesome Movies
At the moment all of my movies my friends and I are sick of watching or they suck in general. Yeah...
#10) Try Hard in School.

There! I just gave you TEN NYRs. I hope you enjoyed.

PS If there is a Apocalypse, I want a Zombie one! It sounds like the most fun.
And the one I am most likely to survive...
Mainly becuase it incredibly easy to hit slow walking idiots on the head.

Umm.... So she's skinny now...

I know weird right?! I mean she was never really in the media a lot so this was such a SHOCK.
Oops, forgot to tell you who I talking about... again.
So I am talking about Ricki-Lee Coulter you know that singer? I think she's Australian?
So last time I saw her was on ROVE which was QUITE a while ago considering ROVE was cancelled like in 2009. And all of sudden she appears on MTV in her music video for that song that I kinda like that is kinda stuck in my head called Raining Diamonds (I still yet to have found the meaning of the song).
And I'm like 'who's this by? Ri- Ricki-Lee? WOW SHE'S SKINNY NOW... Jeaaallooouuusss...'

Update: Was it Crabbe?

So you know how like AAAGGGEEESSS ago I thought maybe that guy who was stabbed outside a club was the guy who played Crabbe but it turned out it wasn't, so I thought I got the news story all wrong?
Well turned out I wasn't wrong about the news story or the fact that it was someone from the Harry Potter cast. The guy who played Crabbe is still alive, selling weed, rapping and getting arrested for participating in the London riots :B (BTW :B is bucktoothed smiley face). The guy who WAS killed was defending his brother or something and was stabbed and he was meant to be playing Marcus Belby, but apparently had JUST finished filming as the role of Marcus Belby on the sixth Harry Potter film (I forgot what character Marcus Belby was, maybe he was in the Slug Club IDK).

Tumblrland

Magical place.
So, I'm pretty sure I've sent this out before, but here it is again because it was quite a while ago.
Before I give you the link there are a few things I'd like to clarify; I do not post/reblog pictures of people flipping the bird, in skimpy outfits, drinking or smoking. I do not post pictures of MYSELF and if I do it isn't of my face and if it is of my face you wouldn't be able to recognise me because it'll only be parts of my face, eg eyes (it sounds like  the equivalent of 'I am not a psychopath that rips peoples bodies apart, take pictures of them and then post them on tumblr').

The Secret Garden

So, when I was a kid, my faveourite movie was The Secret Garden. And I don't know why I loved it but I just did. And I watched it today (on VHS, don't judge) for old times sake (not the VHS part, just the fact that I watched it for old times sake, we only own it on VHS) But did you know I always wanted to move houses when I was a kid? No, I bet you didn't.
But the reason that I always wanted to move house was because I wanted to go exploring, even though the type of house we would get, there wouldn't be much exploring to do, because I would've finished it in like five minutes.
So I realised, if I were to move house it will have to be HUGE and have HEAPS of secret passageways and underground tunnels.
And I thought, oh won't it be sweet if I married a (brown haired) man that built me a house like that?
But then I realised, it will be fun; but not as fasinating. No people will have lived in the house before me, there was no history behind it up until now.
It's also like Coraline in someways.
But if you really wanted me to go HARDCORE on this dream of mine, I'll have a large garden to explore as well thanks.
And I have been to Hearst Castle (that's in California), Larnach Castle (that's in Dunedin), Tower of London (that's in London) and Windsor Castle (that's in Windsor). But they usually don't (pratically always) let you into the passageways and underground tunnels (mainly for security reasons (or something along those lines)).
So basically what I'm saying is, if I marry a brown haired man, and he wants to see the expression of pure amazement and wonder on my face then he should defiantly live in/buy me a giant house with secret passageways, underground tunnels, lots of history and stories behind it with lots of rooms he is more than welcome.

Hearst Castle; Birds Eye View

Hearst Castle; Neptune's Pool

Hearst Castle; The Indoor Pool

Lanarch Castle

Windsor Castle

Tower of London

Tower of London; Apparently the most Haunted place in ALL of Tower of London, of course much like the passageways and underground tunnels they don't let you in there. Hmph. >:(

Tower of London; The Beef Eaters (?)

Tower of London; on of the many stairs to one of the many towers in the Tower of London (they really need to work on that tower plural thing, I mean come on?)

Tower of London, The legend says when the Ravens leave the Tower of London the Palace will fall and the Royal family will fall with it. That must be the reason for the cages for the Ravens.

So The Secret Garden has led me back to my childhood and made me realise my REAL dream home.

My dog is so ugly she barks at her own reflection.

Okay, so my dog isn't ugly (well at least I don't think so). But we have an oven (we only own one oven) that is like refective. And you have to get really close up to see what's inside, and this oven isn't built into the kitchen cabnets, it's just ground level (if you really gave a damn, it is actually a stove/oven and it's a GAS oven). Nellie started doing this like, what? yesterday? So I have no idea what suddenly provoked this. And in between barking sessions she would chase her tail (sometimes she goes SUPER fast, which is kinda funny) which apparently is due to stress. And she would occasionally sniff the oven which will result in no conclusion for Nellie and she will continue to bark, so maybe her reflection for my dog is the equalivant of spawn of the devil/vampires/mutants for humans.
Or my dog doesn't really like her appearance.

My sweet, but dumb dog; Nellie

So... I'm a psychic now... yeah...

Yeah, I bet you didn't see that one coming.
So, no I'm not really a psychic, but there has always been one thing I have been sure of.
I am going to marry/spend the rest of a my life with a person with a man with brown hair.
Like, it has always been certain to me that I will marry/spend the rest of my life with a person with brown hair. Since the age of like six. I don't if it's just because of all those disney princes with brown hair (Cinderella, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast(ish), The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty etc, etc.)
And then there is Ken who most of the time has brown hair. So, I don't know if it was disney and Barbie making it sure I wanted a brown haired man or I just decided myself. But that doesn't mean rule out all other hair colours. I would still date a blonde or a ginger (for those who go "WHA?", I say to that HAVE YOU NOT SEEN RUPERT GRINT???)
And some of you might go, ALICE?  WHAT ABOUT TE BLACK HAIRS?
Don't worry, I count Black hairs as brunettes. And don't you be saying, BUT MY HAIR NO BROWN! IT BLACK! LOOOOKKK! no, see, if you look really closely, you can see it is a really dark shade of brown. Unless you dyed it, in which case I am not going to marry a man who DYES his hair black. I mean, come on? Seriously?

Umm... so my brother had a allergic reaction....

My brother's face is swollen up because of an allergic reaction he had from something in the woods (my mum thinks he might've touched a plant and then rubbed his face).
And it's frikin HILARIOUS.
So, my brother went to the After Hours (it wasn't really the after hours at the time, but After Hours deals with those sort of things). And they gave him some stuff and ran a few tests.
So now he is at home, the swelling went down A BIT, but he's still swollen, and I'm probably just making him all the more misreable because I keep checking his face to see if he is back to normal again (which so far he isn't). I read him a chapter of The Hunger Games yesterday.
I wish I could show a picture, but it will probably just make him even MORE misreable.
I'll google one that is similar.
This is the most similar LEAST disgusting one I could find. BTW I went through A LOT of gross images to find an example of my brother!

Ummm.... why you shouldn't try to stalkerishly try to organise a meet up for during the holidays when they are emotional and hugging other people who are emotional....

So here's what happened:
It was the last day of school, this girl (lets call her Sam) who is kinda a stalker kept following me trying to organise some sort of meet up in the holidays and I was hugging someone who was LEAVING my school FOREVER and she just kept talking awkwardly and then me and the other person stopped hugging and I went to hug another girl (lets call her Claire) who was crying her eyes out (Claire was also leaving school FOREVER) and she made me cry so hard and Sam just kept TALKING like it wasn't an emotional moment for Claire and I (Claire and I were like real close in the first term). And I was crying long after that, she did not get the drift!
She just kept following me and kept yapping in my ear while I was hugging and crying with someone else.
Sam is a nice person, but she's clingy and is SUCH a chatter box and it pisses me off SO much.
She does not understand boundries! So guys, it's better to have LOTS of distant friends that think your pretty cool and laid back and don't hog the conversation than to have like two friends that think you're really annoyingly clingy that hogs a ridiculous amount of the conversation.
Sam would interupt me when I was reading, no.  Sam would interupt me when I was listening to my music, no. Sam would interupt me when I was reading AND listening to music, BIG NO NOS. These are my zones, don't interupt me when I'm in my zones. Don't try to tell me a 'you had to be there' funny story when I'm dancing with my other friends, my zone. Do not interupt me when I am talking. Do not interupt me while I'm listening to someone else talk to me. Do not interupt me when I am hugging someone!
Simple rules to not pissing me off!

Why You Should Attend School as Much as You Can!

I may not sound like the most enthusastic about school, friends or people in general but I was quite upset when the year ended! I mean FOUR people are leaving my class for another school (one leaving for a whole other city!) and not to mention two have already left our class this year! I wish had more time with these people, I mean some of them may have seemed stuck up or dumb but in the end these are people who have agreed to run with me when doing cross country (I'm not a good/fast runner). They weren't bothered when I sat next to them when they were spilling their heart out to another class mate because they knew I won't run telling anyone and they accepted the advice when I felt they needed it and I didn't beg for the name of the person that made them cry and they didn't tell and I was perfectly fine with that. We refused to focus in maths together, we focused in maths together.
And I hugged and cried with people I never thought I would or would have to hug and cry with. Both of my science teachers left (okay, so one left in term two and didn't say goodbye and rumoured reason he left was because he was watching porn at school) and the other one left at the END of the year. I can't STAND this instablity! It's not good for my health. My cousin also got Enviromental Prefect and a girl I knew through cheerleading got Cultural Prefect. People laughed at how stupid I was for crying when I wasn't the one leaving yet (I'm only fourteen and was in Year Nine).
I will never do music again nor art. I won't have that form teacher again.
If you don't attend the last day or any other day you will miss out on the memories like that dumb joke she told, or when your teacher heard your best friend swear in front of him for the first time or that time with chinese whispers and the end result was really dirty.
You will miss that day that could've changed your perspective of a person. You could miss an important lesson on something that could help you on your exam.
And to tell you with all honesty the only time I dreaded class was when I had to hand something in was when I wish I could've had more time to work on it.
Or when I just wanted to catch up on some sleep.

I'm the Zebra, cause I'm loud :)

My school as not been a prison, anything but that.

NEW ZEALAND CHRISTMAS

So, when I was kid I used to kind of always forget that New Zealand Christmas was in the summer, so we wouldn't get any snow and besides since Wellington is beside the sea we get HARDLY any snow. So I used to always get kind of disapointed. But now, it's pretty good, you can indulge in your christmas gifts in the hot sun. And some New Zealanders get asked the dumbest questions like 'So do you celebrate in July instead?'
What the fuck? NO.
So when it came to changing the backround I wondered about what it should be, White Christmas or Pohutukawa Christmas? Pohutukawa. YEAH BOI.

Dude! I'm not your timetable! I am a PERSON!!

Some REGULARS from my class have been messaging me on Facebook, asking 'What do have tomorrow?' Ummm.... Get a new timetable! It's probably because I am one of the most reliant people in my class, that you can trust that I WON'T lose my class timetable. I am human too! I always find running to my bag to get my timetable so I can tell you what we have the next. And these people who ask for help with timetables are people that BARELY talk to me. Stop being so dependent on me... One day my dog might chew up my timetable, someone else in my household might mistake it for a piece of scrap paper, you never know... Get be reliant on yourself for a change.

Well I healed surprisingly quick...

So, I don't feel that bad about finishing The Hunger Games anymore. Harry Potter took a lot longer to get used to the idea of it being over. But for The Hunger Games there are still three movies to be made. And they will come. Now I'm reading Jane Eyre, not one of the easiest books to get into. I really want to get started on The Maze Runner, but unfortunetly you can't buy it on Kindle, you can buy it on Amazon, just not on Amazon Kindle. Dumb Bums.
But it only took a good Marathon of MTV's AWKWARD. to heal me.

Apparently The Maze Runner is a bit like The Hunger Games except they have no recolection of their lives before the maze. The third book is already out and I feel so behind on the times and I hate that feeling, because I'm always one of the unlucky ones to get it. And I can't just take a simple trip down to the Library because the Library is closed on Sundays. Thank goodness for that, because I just realised I could look up (on the Library website) whether the Library even HAS The Maze Runner, wouldn't THAT have been a waste of my time!?

Sometimes I wish I could forget it all together and do it again.

And I'm not talking about regrets. The only thing I regret is not starting The Hunger Games sooner.
I wish I could read it again, which I could, but it wouldn't be the same. I would know what's happening next.
I just want to forget it all together to start the adventure all over again, the same with Harry Potter.
Personally my favourite in the series is the first book. I expected Catching Fire to be the main character (Katniss) and Peeta to be the mentors for the new tributes, and then Mockingjay to be them going back into the arena or something like that. I was wrong.
My favourite character is Prim, but I didn't realise it until the last book, when um... she... *sobs*. Okay, so I'm not entirely giving it away, but those who have read the book probably know what I'm talking about. And I made it fairly obvious, so some others might know what I mean as well.
So I thought after I finished The Hunger Games, I would read Jane Eyre since I've seen the movie.
But right now I feel like a should heal before I start reading another book. Hopefully when The Hunger Games movie comes out it is awesome and I have a tad bit of closure.

But also one thing that is really bothering me is when people go off about the 'Cast'. Like who is playing who. And I HATE that, it takes away the idea of the character being relatible. Being a real person rather that made up people, but with all this thing about the 'cast' ruins it. That's why I don't watch behind the scenes on DVD anymore. It ruins the character. The story. Think about that before you come up to me asking me about what I think of the cast and who should've played that character instead.
And I also hate it when people criticise the book/movie and how it should've been instead. NO. They worked so hard on that and you go off about how it should've been different. This especially happened with Harry Potter, but JK Rowling has had SO much say in the making of the movies, I'm pretty sure she might've been a part of or at least agreed to those changes.
